Access for All
Access For All - is our special fund raising appeal to pay for building alterations to enable our facilities to be used by the elderly and less able. The scheme consists of disabled toilet facilities, ramp access to the main entrance, improved loop facilities for the hard of hearing, and finally a lift, capable of being used by wheelchair users.
The first main phase of these alterations, was
undertaken in the summer of 2003. This provided disabled toilet facilities, and
ramped access to the front door, as well as associated works to modify the box
office area. The work was contracted to Saddleworth Construction. The project
has been designed by, and is being supervised by our architectural consultant
Raad AlHamdani.
WE must say a huge THANK YOU to the many people and organisations
who have helped raised the substantial amount of money needed. Without their
invaluable support, the project would still be on the drawing board. We must
also express our gratitude to the committee that has organised the many fund
raising events, as well as leading us through the difficulties of getting
planning permission, sorting out legal considerations, building and fire
regulations etc.
Patrons
Peter Barkworth; Martin Brooks; Marjorie Lofthouse MBE; Colin Smith OBE; Phil Woolas MP.
